Eugenia and Leonid Pimonows Alzheimer’s Disease Support Fund was established on the 14th of October 1997. The founder of the Fund was the citizen of Lithuania and France, the famous scientist and physicist Leonid Pimonow thus having honoured and monumentalized memory of his wife Eugenia, who had been severely ill with the Alzheimer’s disease.

The main goal of the Fund is to help people with the central nervous systems disorders that cause the dementia syndrome and first of all people with diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease. In the process of achievement of the goals the Fund supports institutions and persons, who nurse and treat patients with the Alzheimer’s disease. The Fund also support academic research and caregiver consultations relating to the Alzheimer’s disease and promotes establishment of sheltered accommodation centres.

The Fund purchased the building at R. Kalantos Str. 199 in Kaunas on its own expense in 2010. The building was reconstructed and adjusted to the special needs of people with the Alzheimer’s and became the first sheltered accommodation of the Fund. The PI “Pimonows Fund sheltered Accommodation” incorporated by the Fund administers the sheltered accommodation and takes care of its residents with the Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of senile dementia.

Organizational structure and management of the Fund.

The supreme management body of the Fund is the Founders Meeting. As Leonid Pimonow, the founder of the Fund, died on the 24th of March 2000 his functions were assumed by the Trustee Council appointed by him.

The Trustee Council is the supreme executive body of the Fund. It can approve, change or supplement the statutes, liquidate the Fund, appoint members of the Board, approve activity reports, set the long-term directions of activity, etc.

At present the Trustee Council comprises of 5 people. The chairman of the Trustee Council is Dr. Juozas Parnarauskas. The Board and Administration of the Fund organizes and executes activity of the Fund. The head of the Administration of the Fund is Kęstutis Mozeris.
